A training with epidemiologists of Sentinel Centres is organized at the Institute of Public Health of Albania on 27 March 2015. It aimed to present the Influenza Web platform and how to manage the data of the web based Influenza Information System. 30 participants (epidemiologists, virologists) from IPH, the Infectious Hospital of Tirana, Tirana Lung Disease Hospital and from regional health centers of the country attended the workshop. 3 lecturers presented presentations related to the Influenza Surveillance and web based flu platform.
On 19 February 2015 in Montengro was held the ILI/ARI/SARI Meeting.
This activity has been organized in the framework of the second year implementation of the Project “Surveillance and Response to Avian and pandemic Influenza by National Health Authorities of Countries of South East Europe”.
On the 27th of January 2015, Dr Nina Rodic Vukmir, Influenza Manager in the Republic of Srpska (BiH), visited East Sarajevo General Hospital and held a meeting with a hospital management team as well as with the Head of the Departments and Chief Nurses.

A 5-day training course on Introduction to Laboratory Quality Management and the Laboratory Quality Stepwise Implementation (LQSI) tool for National Influenza Centres took place in Tirana, Albania from 17th to 21st November 2014.
According to the new ECDC risk assessment, the recent outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza A(H5N8) in poultry holdings in Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom present extremely low risk to the general public. To date, no human infections with this virus have ever been reported worldwide.
Italian authorities have suspended the use of about 500,000 doses of Fluad, a Novartis influenza vaccine for elderly people, following 13 recent deaths in people who had received the shot, according to company and media reports.
