NEOH workshop, Malta, 16-17 January 2017

During 16th– 17th January 2017 in Malta, representative of SECID took part in the Workshop and Management Committee Meeting organized by Trans-Domain COST Action TD1404 - Network for Evaluation of One Health (NEOH). This workshop was focused on the presentation and discussion of the results from the NEOH case studies. The case study leaders and their collaborators presented the work conducted, and gave feedback on the handbook.

The International Conference on Zoology and Zoonoses has been held in Hissar, Bulgaria, from the 26th to 28th of October,  2016. The goal was to provide an opportunity for a dynamic exchange of information, ideas and scientific discoveries in light of recent climate changes and the associated epidemiological risk for public health. The Conference was aimed at experts from various fields of zoology, as well as microbiologists, vets and epidemiologists.

Leishmaniasis Gap Analysis Summary Report

REPORT LAUNCH: CORDS is happy to announce the launch of the Leishmaniasis gap analysis report and action plan: An operational research study spanning Albania, Jordan and Pakistan involving SECID/SEEHN, MECIDS and Pak One Health networks. This study funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, was conducted in order to improve the capacity for the diagnosis, treatment and control of leishmaniasis and other vector borne diseases.

This meeting was organised by SECID in the framework of the project ’Strengthening the Epidemiological Surveillance, Diagnosis and Treatment in Syrian and Afghan Refugees and general population in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Pakistan and Albania’, supported by CORDS and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The aim of the meeting was to analyse the key gaps, key findings, priorities, recommendations and follow up in relation to the gold standard of WHO guidelines for Europe, on Leishmaniasis in Albania and recommendations of project follow up.

In the framework of the project ‘Strengthening the Epidemiological Surveillance, Diagnosis and Treatment of Leishmaniasis in Syrian and Afghan Refugees and general population in Jordan, Pakistan and Albania’, Pak One Health Alliance (POHA) organized a meeting to disseminate the Leishmania Gap Analysis Study conducted in Pakistan.

CROATIA, One Health Workshop, 29-30 June 2015

The final in a series of three cross border One Health workshops supported by CORDS in the SECID network, took place  in Samobor (nearby Zagreb), Croatia on 29-30 June 2015.

The workshop was attended by representatives of  Human and Animal health sectors from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia (around 27 participants).

The workshop was chaired by Dr Iva Pem Novosel, Epidemiologist Service, Croatian Institute of Public Health.

This meeting was held in the framework of the project ‘Strengthening the Epidemiological Surveillance, Diagnosis and Treatment in Syrian and Afghan Refugees and general population in Jordan, Pakistan and Albania’, supported by CORDS and financed from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The project is implemented by the Southeast European Center for Surveillance and Control of Infectious Diseases (SECID), the Middle East Consortium on Infectious Disease Surveillance (MECIDS) and Pakistan.
