Sentinel site visit in Banja Luka, Republic of Srpska, BiH 23 June 2015

On the 23rd of June 2015, Dr Nina Rodic Vukmir, Influenza Manager for the Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized a visit to the ILI sentinel site and had a constructive meeting with the team of the Hygiene-Epidemiological Service (HES) Dom zdravlja Banja Luka.

This meeting was focused on the review of the season 2014/15, obstacles during the first year of sentinel implementation, virology results, planning of the future steps and the newest information from the Annual Influenza Meeting 2015. The team also presented their experience from the B&H study tour to Belgrade, which was very interesting and useful for all participants from various levels of health system.

Also, one of the purposes of this meeting was to deliver the computer for the sentinel site which was provided through the Project in the second year. It will be very useful for collecting and analyzing surveillance data in Banja Luka. 

The role of the Project "Surveillance And Response To Avian And Pandemic Influenza" as a valuable asset for improving influenza surveillance in the Republic of Srpska, BiH was emphasized by all.
